Full Game Explanation
One player is the “bucket head.” They hold a plastic bucket (or wear it like a helmet if it fits safely) and stand still or take small steps, depending on how wild you want the round. Everyone else is a thrower. On “go,” throwers have 1 minute to land as many ping pong balls as possible in the bucket. When time expires, count the balls in the bucket. Highest score wins. Swap roles so more people get a turn as bucket head.
Setup
1 lightweight plastic bucket per team (or one shared bucket if you’re rotating one at a time)
A pile of ping pong balls
A timer
A clear throwing line so nobody crowds the bucket head
Best with 2+ players; it scales easily for teams or a whole group taking turns.
Variation: Bounce & Catch
Instead of a straight throw, the thrower bounces the ping pong ball once on the floor. The bucket head has to move and catch the rebound in the bucket on their head. This version is slower, funnier, and rewards timing more than raw throwing. It can also be played in a more challenging manner, where one contestant bounces the ball off a wall and catches it themselves.
